PS. if you have completed level 3 certificate or level 4 Diploma by Nordic Dog Trainer and attend all three days, you are also entitled to the "Expert certificate" and sticker for your certificate/diploma.

Saturday the 24th of June 10.00 - 17.00: Dr. Amber Batson

Fearful Fido: a multimodal approach to helping dogs with fear

4 lectures to contain:

What is fear? What is the difference between fear, anxiety and phobia? What goes on inside body and brain when a dog experiences fear.  How are fear based memories stored and how does this affect future learning? We will have a brief look at trauma experiences in dogs.

A look at how disease and pain may contribute to the development of some fears based on the most up to date science and will briefly consider how neutering may affect fear responses.

A consideration of which aspects of activities and environment might help a fearful dog? This will include discussion on human to dog relationship building, enrichment and activity types in fearful dogs.  There will be a short section on the use of psychopharmaceuticals or supplements in fear cases.

A recent real life case study of Amber’s to work through how this information is applied practically to effect a positive outcome for both human and dog using a multimodal approach.  There will be time for questions at the end of the day

Sunday the 25th of June 9.00 - 16.00*: Dr. Amber Batson 
Topic: case studies including repetitive behaviour and aggression in adolescent dog.
